Fans Make Rey Mysterio’s Huge Victory on SmackDown Bitter Sweet by Speculating His Faction’s Tenure to Be Short-Lived

Rey Mysterio became a champion again on SmackDwon this week. His win came as a shock to everyone, as he wasn’t even in the line to compete for the title he won. A couple of weeks ago, Santos Escobar defeated ‘The Master of 619’ to become the No. 1 contender for the United States Championship.

The championship match was scheduled for this week on the blue brand, but Escobar couldn’t compete because of an injury. Mysterio took his place in the match and pinned Austin Theory to become the champion. His win made his fans happy, but they also believe it might have negative consequences for his LWO faction.

Rey Mysterio become the United States Champion for a third time

On the recent edition of SmackDwon, ‘A-Town Down’ attacked his scheduled opponent before his title match backstage and injured him. Despite the injury, Escobar came out to fight but Theory caught him by surprise again and further injured him.

Because of this, the doctors refused to allow Escobar to compete in his scheduled match. Mysterio made a comeback from a minor injury and filled in for his LWO teammate in an impromptu match against Theory. With a 619 followed by a body splash, ‘The Master of 619’ secured his victory against his opponent.

With this win, Mysterio became a three-time United States champion in his glorious career. After the magnificent victory, LWO members came out to the stage to celebrate with the new US Champ. With tears in his eyes, Escobar congratulated his mentor and hero on his win and even hugged him.

But fans predict that soon Escobar’s happiness may soon turn into jealousy as he might want payback from Mysterio for stealing his title opportunity.

Is LWO going to break up?

‘A-Town Down’ had a long run as the United States Champion in the promotion. The WWE Universe was happy and satisfied that someone finally dethroned him. Knowing that it was Mysterio only added to the fans’ joy and pleasure. Here are a few comments fans dropped on Instagram regarding this subject.

Escobar wanted to become the United Champion, but capitalizing on his injury, Mysterio sort of stole the opportunity from him. He beat Mysterio a few weeks ago to become the No.1 contender fair and square and wanted to rip the title off Theory’s waist, but his idol ruined it for him.
