From showing up at NXT dressed like Bayley, to watching the Damage CTRL leader take on Sasha Banks in the first women’s Iron Man Match, Izzy Moreno cemented her name as a Bayley Superfan. Now at 16 years old, the teenager is following in the footsteps of her idol to fulfil her dreams. In 2018, then 10-year-old girl shocked the pro wrestling world as she took a chokeslam. The spot divided opinions then.

This year, Moreno stepped into the pro wrestling ring for the first time, but her journey with the sport started way back with that daring chokeslam at a young age. In an exclusive conversation with EssentiallySports, she spills backstage secrets about her debut so far.

Izzy Moreno recently appeared in an exclusive interview with EssentiallySports on December 14th. Also known as the Bayley Superfan, she spoke about dealing with criticism almost six years ago. Moreno said that the bump came “pretty quick” in her life. She revealed that she was training lightly at that time when the idea of her first match struck her mind. After careful consideration, Morena was excited about it.

“And I was like, okay cool. And I was super down for it. I was like, heck yeah, let’s do it. And I was fine,” she said. However, the chokeslam didn’t go down well with many, including former WWE star Lince Dorado.

“At the time, it wasn’t very good for me because I did get a lot of backlash about it. And personally, it was hard to be 10 and have to see the things that people wrote about you,” Moreno told EssentiallySports. She, however, mentioned that she’s grateful that the backlash came early. In the same interview, she discussed her role model who inspired her to become a wrestler.

In this Dorado talks about how he was pissed off with her dad for that move. After Dorado’s WWE release, Silagyi’s sarcastic comment triggered a Twitter exchange, leading Dorado to challenge him to a face-to-face conversation. Despite attempts to meet, Silagyi apologized online and deleted his accounts, ending the feud.

Dorado said, “I want her to be successful.” He further added, “I just cannot support the idea of a child taking a bump.” Dorado is supportive of Izzy’s success but against child bumps in wrestling. In the end, he also emphasized the importance of addressing bullying in the industry.
