The world of pro wrestling is filled with various promotions, one more popular than the other. NJPW is one such promotion that is widely popular not only in Japan but around the globe. It has some of the best in-ring talents which are often a talk of the pro wrestling world. However, recently, a current NJPW talent took major shots and expressed his frustrations with the management while also calling out former WWE superstar Sasha Banks, aka Mercedes Mone.
Which new talent took a shot at the NJPW management?
29-year-old Alex Coughlin is still a new addition to the world of pro wrestling. Although Coughlin has been with NJPW since 2018, he was recently elevated to mainstream status recently when he joined The Bullet Club.

With one of the biggest events of NJPW, G1 approaching, Coughlin took major shots at the management. Coughlin was recently added to the pool of 32 superstars for the G1 Climax’s 33rd edition. However, prior to the event in a press conference, he would express his clear frustrations with the company, over a very personal issue.
Coughlin would claim that while the promotion had the money to pay a big talent like Sasha Banks, they refused to afford a small gift for Coughlin’s parents. He said, “I wanted to send a shirt to my mother and a shirt to my father as thank you for putting up with me missing everything the last five years. I wanted two shirts. The response I got was, ‘Hey Alex, we’re limiting the comps of the shirts to the wrestler only right now. Sorry.’ This is my favorite part. ‘If it helps, the shirt is part of the Halloween sale going on right now.’”

Coughlin further continued, “It was all fuc*ing worth it, right? Missed funerals, birthdays, everything. Did I complain? No. Did I ask the office to go back? No. I stayed in the dojo even longer to train. Even when you got f***ing Sasha Banks money, you can’t give me $20 wholesale worth of material to send to my parents as a thank you?”
Coughlin did not shy away from taking shots at the management. Sasha Banks left WWE last year and made her way into NJPW for a contract worth more than $100,000 per match. Coughlin believed if NJPW had such kind of money to pay to Banks, they could have easily afforded his gifts for his parents.
However, despite sounding real, the entire segment seems to be done as a part of kayfabe and could be playing into Coughlin’s character.
How much money did NJPW pay Sasha Banks for her time?
After falling out with WWE last year, both Sasha Banks and Naomi would leave the promotion. Banks then went to NJPW in a reportedly big-money move. However, the actual amount paid to Banks is not known.

Although, wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer once confirmed that it was more than their most expensive deal with Chris Jericho. Both Jericho and Banks were paid on a per-appearance basis. While Jericho was offered a humongous $100,00 for per appearance, Banks seemed to have grabbed more than that.
