Roman Reigns has become one of the most polarizing figures in the WWE. As the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, The Tribal Chief has won many fans. Reigns won the WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 38 on April 3, 2022. Since then, he’s been the reigning Champion.
However, his run as the champion has gained a ton of criticism due to the number of title defenses he’s had so far. While claiming to be the best Champion in WWE history, fans quickly pointed out how he hasn’t done a lot to prove it so far.

At Crown Jewel 2023, fans watching at home could not stop hearing Micheal Cole repeat how Reigns was the WWE Universal Champion. Despite LA Knight giving it his all, he was unable to defeat The Head of The Table. However, this was only the fifth title defense Reigns had this year.
Taking to X, the social media account of WrestlingWorldCC posted an interesting piece of information. Reigns has had five televised title defenses in the year 2023. This comes as a shock to many WWE fans amidst the criticism that Reigns is not really a great champion.

This mirrors the time Brock Lesnar was Champion, and fans hated the fact that the WWE gave the title to a part-timer. The fans want a champion who could defend the title as many times as possible. This is one of the reasons why Seth Rollins’ WWE World Heavyweight Championship reign is so loved.
Despite loving the heel gimmick of the Tribal Chief, fans were quick to show their disappointment in the low number. While many criticized it, others compared it to previous champions. While Paul Heyman claims Reigns will continue as champion, fans are not completely excited about it.
Fan reaction towards Reigns’ low title defense matches
As mentioned before, fans are not excited at Reign’s low title defenses in 2023. While many claim that he is getting better, The Bloodline storyline has come to a halt. With fans expecting Jey Uso or Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to end the reign, WWE has not confirmed anything. Here are the fan reactions to the post.
The first was the comparison to other WWE champions, specifically Seth Rollins.

And finally, the Brock Lesnar comparison.
Which makes him the Brock Lesnar 2.0 who hardly shows up and wrestles, Roman Reigns is a fraud he’s not a goat and never will be.
