The concept of enclosed matches has been a massive hit with combat-hungry audiences since the time of the early gladiators. Today, pro wrestling quells that hunger via steel cage matches. While WWE’s Hell in a Cell matches capitalized on this demand from its fans, things took an explosive turn when The Elimination Chamber was introduced.

Since its inception in 2002, The Elimination Chamber has been a WWE staple. But what differentiates it from a regular steel cage or Hell in a Cell match? Moreover, what can you look forward to seeing at The Elimination Chamber 2024? Here are the rules of the upcoming Premium Live Event that will make everything crystal clear for you.

The dooming tick-tock of the Chamber

An Elimination Chamber match can be considered a fusion of the Royal Rumble and a Survivor Series WarGames match. The match only ends when everyone is eliminated, and the participating wrestlers enter the chamber one by one. However, unlike the Royal Rumble, there is no escaping the chamber.

The match starts with six contestants competing for either a championship or to become the number one contender for a championship. The Elimination Chamber setup consists of a giant cage enclosing the ring along with chains to restrict any exit attempts. Furthermore, four glass pods are placed on the perimeter of the ring. These pods are very tough and are made with bulletproof glass. 

Two wrestlers begin the Elimination Chamber match while the other four wait to be released from their pods to join the fight. A countdown timer, usually lasting between three to five minutes, is used to determine the time each wrestler will enter into the match. The wrestlers in the pods and the fans don’t know which wrestler will be released next.

So, how do you win an Elimination Chamber match? This part of the match carries the unraveling of a classic WWE match. One loses the match if they get pinned or yield to a submission. But, unlike a Triple-Threat or a Fatal Four-Way, pinning an opponent doesn’t win you the match.

To secure the win, a wrestler must be the only surviving contestant who hasn’t been pinned or made to submit. This takes the burden of breaking a submission attempt or a pinfall off the shoulders of the competitors. Instead, staying put and letting the competition dwindle increases one’s odds. So, what can you expect to see in the Elimination Chamber 2024?

Foresight into the Elimination Chamber 2024

The Elimination Chamber 2024 Premium Live Event will take place in Australia’s Perth on 24 February. Since CM Punk has been declared unfit for any action till he recovers from his injuries, Seth Rollins doesn’t have a WrestleMania opponent. 

Thus, the prize that the WWE Superstars will fight for would be the number one contender spot for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Who are the six wrestlers who will be competing in the match? That is yet to be decided. But Nick Aldis has announced the pool of potential candidates who will fight in qualification matches for the Elimination Chamber 2024. Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre have made it to the chamber match.
