The first time that the Hollywood star referenced the $70 billion franchise was back in 2012. This happened during a promo where Cena was trash-talking a potential opponent at the time. In the promo, Cena began by saying that WWE had lately become like a ‘rotten’ Star Wars episode. Then, he began narrating an ‘original’ Star Wars story. Cena tried his best to maintain the authenticity of the franchise and also mimicked the characters while giving them new WWE-inspired names.

Cena gave John Laurinaitis the role of the ‘Sith Lord’. Then, he moved on to give his rival, The Big Show, the role of the legendary villain ‘Darth Vader’ and called him ‘Show Vader’. To follow the lore more accurately, he made himself ‘Cena Skywalker’ and went on to follow the iconic sequel trilogy’s storyline.

After narrating his way through how the trilogy played out, in the end, Cena broke character and laughed out loud at his impeccable mimicry skills. The crowd in the background cheered for the wrestler after witnessing his voicing talent.

In the original film trilogy, Darth Vader loses to the protagonist. Months after this promo, Cena’s narration manifested itself as The Big Show was pinned by John Cena on Monday Night Raw 08/20/12.

Days after speculating about Cena’s ‘Greece’ related Instagram posts, now it’s time to decipher what the wrestler is onto with his latest Star Wars reference.
