Last year in September, WWE pulled the plug on its NXT UK brand. The promotion revealed that they would release an NXT Europe brand in 2023 that will take in talent from all the European countries. Recently, a reporter at WWE Money in the Bank press conference asked ‘HHH’ why the promotion hasn’t executed this plan yet.
‘Hunter’ replied that the UFC-WWE merger has been a big factor in WWE not being able to release its European developmental brand. He said, “Yeah, it’s [UFC-WWE merger] just slowed down the process. I think I’m terrible with time, at some point; I don’t know, end of the year, last year, whatever it is, we said in 2023 it would happen.”
“Not having a crystal ball to see where everything was headed in that moment in time, obviously, this transition with this merger with UFC, with Endeavor, and TKO, it’s changed the time frame. But I think the intent is still the same. I mentioned it under the premise of WrestleMania and premium live events going global,” he added.
