While fans were not happy initially with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson making his way to WrestleMania 40, they have forgiven him since the return of Hollywood Rock. Johnson turned heel after almost two decades in his pro wrestling career and he is not slowing down. From slapping Cody Rhodes at the WrestleMania 40 Press Conference to being extremely rude to the fans, he has done it all. However, it might not all be working in his favor. While he is on the Board of Directors of the TKO Group, he still has authorities to answer to.
Dwayne Johnson defends himself
In a recent Instagram post, the Brahma Bull wrote, “Networks and “standards & practices” have issues with my language, but I’d rather be real than not.” After stating his stance, he further wrote, “I talk from the heart, shoot from the hip, and try to always have fun.” This might be a hint that he is not going to slow down and will have his way no matter what.

Along with that, he attached a clip from his latest promo from the 03/15 episode of SmackDown, where he organized a “Rock Concert” for his fans. It was during this promo that he said to a fan in the audience, “You sound like somebody the Rock can love – drunk and horny.”
Johnson highlighting this part of the promo might indicate that this might have been picked up by the network. He had made some comments in this similar fashion during an episode of SmackDown in Phoenix, Arizona. The 51-year-old had talked about the promo and how unexpected the fan’s reaction was. And on a separate note, his return has facilitated the return of a major WWE personnel from the Attitude Era who is helping him with these promos.
The Rock’s promo writer
The one who is aiding Johnson with all of his promos and segments is none other than Brian Gewirtz. For those who are unfamiliar with his work, he was one of the major writers from the Attitude Era. Amongst many stars, he has written for Heel Rock and others.

Gewritz had joined WWE back in 1999 and was with the company until 2015. After that, he left WWE to join Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions and has been a major part of the production house since then. What do you have to say about Dwayne Johnson’s recent promos?
