Dwayne Johnson’s Love for a Car Was Ruined by Wrestling

Dwayne Johnson has had a connection with the world of wrestling ever since he was born. His maternal grandfather and his father both were notable wrestlers of his time. This genetic connection he had with wrestling also honed his skills enough to become one of the most respected stars in WWE. But the promotion also took something from him in return.

Even though WWE didn’t take anything materialistically from The Rock, his love for a car brand was completely ruined due to the culture that was followed in the pro wrestling world during his father’s prime days.

Wrestling ruined Dwayne Johnson’s ‘dream car’

Growing up with a wrestler father, Johnson was fairly influenced by the sport and its personalities. The influence that he had in his life not only limited itself to career orientation but also personal opinions like the car he would want to buy in the future. Surprisingly though, it ended up ruining the experience of one of the cars he bought.

Joe Rogan recently had The Brahma Bull as a guest over at The Joe Rogan Experience. The two were talking about muscle cars in the middle of the podcast episode. Johnson revealed that during the 80s, wrestlers used to have either a Cadillac or a Lincoln as it was a pre-requisite for the business.

“So, growing up for me, it was less muscle cars, even though I appreciated in the movies, it was more, ‘Dude I can’t wait to get a Caddy.’ That’s the thing,” confessed the former wrestler. However, when he finally bought a Caddy for himself, it was too cliche to keep around. “When I got my first Caddy, I was like, ‘Well, hold on a second’. It actually represents what we call in the wrestling business ‘Working the gimmick’. And I was like I don’t want a Caddy if it makes me feel like I’m working the gimmick,” added Johnson.

Despite what he thought about the car at first, Johnson decided to keep it around with the beautiful automobile collection that he currently holds.

The car collection that Johnson currently has is estimated to be around $5.1 million in total. Even though it is not an outrageous amount for a Hollywood celebrity as successful as him, it is impressive, nevertheless.

For starters, Johnson has a 1971 Chevy Chevelle, a Plymouth Prowler, and a Ford F-150. He also owns a Ford GT and a Cadillac Escalade.

Not to forget the beautifully iconic Ferrari LaFerrari, Lamborghini Huracan, and Pagani Huayra that he has in his garage; all of these eight cars add up to be over $5 million in worth.
