Dwayne Johnson’s Dream Of Being the Next James Bond Gets Crushed by Franchise’s Casting Director: “He Has to Look Like a Regular Guy”

Dwayne Johnson is arguably one of the most popular figures in the industry. After making it big in pro wrestling, Johnson would shift gears and join Hollywood to pursue his career as an actor. After struggling for an initial few years, Johnson would soon hit the mark, and become one of the highest-paid actors in the industry.

Johnson is a man of many talents and is an exceptional actor and businessman alongside being a former pro wrestler. His recent film, Black Adam received negative reviews from fans and critics alike, and he was soon removed from the DCEU as Black Adam.

Johnson is set to star alongside Chris Evans in his next film, ‘Red One’ set to release later this year. However, recently there were rumors floating around of Johnson reprising the role of the British spy James Bond after Daniel Craig had his last outing as Bond.

However, the casting director of the film, Debbie McWilliams appeared on Radio Times, and announced that Johnson would not be playing the role because of certain reasons. She began explaining her statement and justified it with reasons as well.

Debbie McWilliams is one of the most instrumental figures in the James Bond franchise and has been associated with the films for over the last 40 years. She has been tasked with selecting the next James Bond over the years, and she did that every time successfully.

The Brahma Bull of WWE had expressed his desires of playing the part of 007, however, McWilliams recently revealed why he cannot be the next Bond. She stated that Bond needs to look like a regular man, and not bring the special Dwayne Johnson aura with him.

She said, “There isn’t an absolute ideal mould. He has to look like a regular guy – you can’t be Dwayne Johnson. He has to have a great physique – it demands a high level of fitness – but he shouldn’t stand out in any situation.”

McWilliams would further detail how they had looked at a variety of options when choosing an actor for Casino Royal, several years ago. She stated that they did not go for young actors since they lacked experience and gravitas. While a young Henry Cavill had also auditioned for the role, the crew had rejected him.
