Dwayne Johnson proved his star power at the box office as his action-thriller San Andreas raked up over $400 million despite receiving mixed reviews from the critics. The commercial success of the movie emboldened the producers to announce a sequel, which has since been in development. Now, there’s an update about San Andreas 2 and if you’re a fan of the franchise, look away. The news surrounding the movie is not positive.

As per actor Paul Giamatti, who played Dr Lawrence, the film is still hanging in the balance. Appearing as a guest on the ‘Happy Sad Confused podcast’, the revered actor said, “It’s been talked about. It’s true. You’re right though, and every now and then I hear somebody brings it up they’re like ‘eh.’

“My agent will be ‘but you know, San Andreas 2, they’re talking about that.’ And I’ll be like ‘really?’ Then nothing. Then nothing happens,” the thespian added.

This, mixed with confusing reports from 2022 that confirmed Johnson’s unavailability from the sequel due to schedule conflict, doesn’t bode well for the movie and its fans. Meanwhile, fans will be hoping to see Johnson return to the silver screen soon.
