The very first live show (Raw) after that infamous SmackDown segment, saw random ‘Rocky sucks’ chants and several people holding up “We Want Cody” chits in their hands. To add to the hype, tonight’s NXT crowd exactly showed the same endorsement of the American Nightmare throughout the show.

However, it seems Rhodes put WWE on notice before altering the most anticipated WrestleMania main event plan.

Cody Rhodes warned the company about the crowd’s sentiment

As a report by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select suggested, the American Nightmare unquestionably moved with WWE’s booking decision being true to his ‘‘company man. image.” While he didn’t directly oppose the higher-up’s decision, he could sense the negative aftermath. He had reportedly warned the company about the potential backlash from the fans.

Cody Rhodes has been a phenomenal figure in the Stamford-based company, especially since the beginning of his second run. Not only did he manage to get a big push from the company, but he also had his fans on his side throughout. The emotional element attached to his ultimate goal of finishing the story melted fans downright during the WrestleMania 39 season and they found themselves aligned with their hero’s dream ever since. So quite obviously, when after being ditched last year, they were hardly ready to get anything this time as well.
