Dwayne Johnson Return: What We Can Expect From The Rock, Roman Reigns & Cody Rhodes on SmackDown 2/16

With The Rock’s return to WWE, everything pointed to him being the one to challenge Roman Reigns for his world championship, even if this meant not allowing Cody Rhodes, the reigning winner of the Royal Rumble to attain his rights to face a champion. However, after criticism from all quarters, WWE changed its plans and decided that Rhodes would challenge The Tribal Chief.

For his part, Johnson has aligned himself with Reigns, establishing an unexpected alliance. However, their partnership could yield fruitful results as they engage in a tussle with The American Nightmare. Now, with all the roles defined, WWE has begun to prepare the Road to WrestleMania for the trio. With SmackDown GM Nick Aldis confirming the participation of Johnson and Reigns, here’s what we can expect.

The Rock and Roman Reigns will make an appearance

This Friday on SmackDown, both Roman Reigns and The Rock will be on the blue brand. The WWE faithful can expect further developments on how the feud between these superstars can be resolved. Undoubtedly, this situation has taken a very unexpected turn, as no one expected Rock and Reigns to join forces on this Road to WrestleMania. In fact, Johnson sends a clear warning to Rhodes ahead of the next SmackDown show, where ‘the American Nightmare’, Reigns, and the Rock will probably have a segment after what happened at WrestleMania Kickoff.

In a recent social media post that shows the Tribal Chief, Johnson, and Paul Heyman together, the Rock issued a warning in the caption that read, “Hear the rumble, Hear the rumble, Run for dem life, when we step into the jungle. You f**ked around and found out quick, didn’t you boy? You, your little friends and all your crybabies have no idea what’s coming. The world’s on notice. ~ People’s Champ + Tribal Chief”

Now that we know that the bad guys will be making their presence known, what about the baby faces?

Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins might make an appearance

And since the Tribal Chief and Brahma Bull are there, how can we not expect to have a segment with the American Nightmare? In the previous edition of RAW, Cody Rhodes did mention how he would be looking for payback after the infamous slap at the WrestleMania kickoff show. And now that he has Seth Rollins supporting him as well in this fight, we can expect the Architect to make an appearance in the blue brand as well.

And if things are as tense as they are, we might even witness an all-out brawl with security stopping the wrestlers from tearing each other apart before WrestleMania. All in all, we will have to see how the 3 superstars interact once they meet on SmackDown, and more considering that in this rivalry Seth Rollins, currently on RAW, is also involved, so the next few weeks will be key to seeing what ends up happening with the main events of both nights of WrestleMania 40.
