WWE Universe has been treated with several great treats in 2023, and comebacks of celebrated wrestlers definitely take the cake. While many WWE wrestlers were removed from the roster, many fan-favorite icons made ravishing returns. This list includes John Cena, Dwayne Johnson, and ‘The Best in the World’ CM Punk.

The comebacks made by these wrestlers were received with intense enthusiasm from fans who were yearning to see them again. Here is every single wrestler who returned to WWE in 2023.

The big guns, John Cena. Dwayne Johnson, and CM Punk

John Cena has made several visits throughout the year, starting with his WrestleMania 39 match for the US Championship. Following this, the 16-time WWE Champion surprisingly showed up in London for the Money in the Bank PLE. Finally, Cena made a lasting return in September, where he also wrestled a match in India, after which he participated in several PLEs including the Crown Jewel 2023.

While Cena made several touchdowns to WWE’s squared circle, Dwayne Johnson carried all that explosiveness in just one appearance. Johnson made his return just a couple of weeks after John Cena, stepping in the ring after four long years.

Johnson’s comeback wasn’t hinted to the fans at all, unlike Cena’s. However, the WWE Universe had already picked up on the scent of a massive return at the Survivor Series. CM Punk returned to WWE after almost ten years since he left in 2014. Punk’s return carried a lot of emotion and instantly became the talk of the town.

WWE had actively gone out of its way to quash the rumors stating that CM Punk would make a return. However, the man whose chants never stopped despite his nine-year absence returned to grace his fans. 

Interestingly, Punk wasn’t the only returning wrestler at Survivor Series. In fact, his former in-ring nemesis had also marked his presence at the premium live event.

Randy Orton and many more returning wrestlers

“The Apex Predator” Randy Orton also returned at Survivor Series and was a part of Team Cody Rhodes in the main event match. His return after a year and a half was exciting for the fans.

This was also the year when the late and great Bray Wyatt returned to WWE and wrestled in his final match. Several other superstars including Carlito, Kairi Sane, and Nia Jax also returned and performed for their fans.
