For over two long decades in the entertainment industry, Dwayne Johnson has been winning the hearts of several people. Hailing from a family of athletes, Johnson would choose WWE after a disappointing football career. However, soon after he would leave WWE to pursue acting and etch his name in the books of Hollywood.

Although he would undergo a period of struggle, Johnson fought hard to rise to the top, to become one of the highest-paid actors in the world. Currently valued at $800 million, Johnson is one of the richest actors in the world. While Johnson was rumored a return at WrestleMania 39, that did materialize.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was rumored to appear at WrestleMania 39 for a long time actually. However, Johnson never appeared at ‘Mania’ to challenge his cousin Roman Reigns as many presumed. Johnson’s return at ‘Mania’ would have been a huge money-making chance for WWE. However, the company found another way to utilize Dwayne Johnson. One of the richest and biggest names in the entertainment industry, and subsequently WWE used his name to issue a trading card of theirs.

How did WWE earn a huge amount of money using Dwayne Johnson’s trading card?

WWE has been in the trading card business for a long period of time. The trading card is a lucrative game and often involves huge amounts of money. And WWE’s Dwayne Johnson trading card recently shattered records and became the single most valuable WWE trading card in history.

The card goes by the name – Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Black Prizm Card. It is a unique card where The Rock could be seen delivering ‘The Rock Bottom’ to Stone Cold Steve Austin. As per WrestlingInc, the card was sold at a charity auction for $US 126,000. It is now the most expensive WWE trading card in the franchise’s history, as reported by Inside Ropes.

Behind it is a trading card of Rookie Hulk Hogan, which was sold for nearly half of this price. WWE has been in the trading card business for several years, however back then it was produced and distributed by Topps. However, the rights to the trading cards were bought by The Panini Group.

Johnson’s card was one of the new sets of cards to be printed under this new management and was rated a Near Mint 7. While Johnson skipped WrestleMania, he made sure to bring in money for WWE.
