Dwayne Johnson Breathes a Huge Sigh of Relief After DC’s Latest Box Office Bomb Makes Black Adam Look Like The Avengers

Last year, we saw Dwayne Johnson lose a lot of steam in the Hollywood business as his long-in-production, Black Adam, failed to break even at the box office. Many publications deemed it a failure and Johnson has yet to recover from that damage at the movies.

But with the release of another big DCEU project failing even miserably at the theaters, Johnson might finally take a sigh of relief for not starring in the worst-performing DC movie. This recent feature film made ended up being such a big bomb at the box office that no one is going to remember Johnson’s, Black Adam.

DCEU has another failure on its hand

Recent reports show that The Flash, the latest DCEU film, is going to be one of the biggest flops in superhero movie history. Made with a budget close to $225 million dollars plus the marketing costs, which were $150 million, projections report that the movie won’t be able to cover the costs of making the movie as well.

There were many detracting factors from this movie’s success from the beginning. From the countless years, it took to make the movie to the rotating seat of the director, until the director of It and It Chapter II took the helm of the movie. But the most important one came out close to the movie’s release. Reports of the main lead, Ezra Miller’s personal troubles, shed a poor light on the film’s box office numbers.

While they weren’t a big part of the promotion of the movie, the reports surrounding Miller certainly had an enormous impact on people’s perception of the movie. But these reports work in favor of Johnson, who has no association with DC anymore, but still gets dragged for engraving a failure at the box office.

Upcoming Dwayne Johnson-led movies in 2023 and beyond

First and foremost, the movie that’s nearing its release date the fastest is Red One. With Chris Evans and J. K. Simmons, it looks to be a great recipe for success for Johnson. Apart from that, Johnson is rumored to be working on his second Fast and Furious spin-off as well as a Red Notice sequel. When talking about sequels, Johnson has a lot of cooking in the oven at the moment (pun intended).

From Jumanji 3 to San Andreas sequel to Jungle Cruise sequel, there are many movies in the works right now. Apart from that, Disney announced that Johnson will reprise his role as Maui in the live-action version of 2016’s Moana.
