WrestleMania 40 is shaping up to be a grand spectacle. All hell broke loose at the WrestleMania 40 kick-off press event when it was cemented that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be siding with Roman Reigns and has a personal grudge against Cody Rhodes now. While rumor has it that Johnson is trying to take control of the creative direction of things, one person in particular, Triple H is not quite happy about it. Amidst the speculation that the two might clash in the future, a clip of both of them reflecting on their two-decade-old rivalry was shared by WWE.

Dwayne Johnson and Triple H talk about their rivalry

A clip from the first episode of WWE Rivals has just dropped and the episode will be dissecting the iconic rivalry between The Game and The Rock. In the clip, both could be seen talking about the most iconic battles that they had. The two pondered over how they evolved together in the industry as according to Triple H, “We were kids finding our way in the business.”

As the clip came to an end, the two stated something that was a mutual feeling. Both described their bond to be a “brotherly” one. While Johnson mentioned that the WWE’s current COO is like a brother to him, Triple H stated that in his eyes, Johnson will always hold respect. Their rivalry started back in the late 90’s and has seen many phases.

The thing that kicked off their rivalry was their feud for the Intercontinental Championship title. Once the two had evolved into bigger stars, they had battled for the WWE Championship title for years.

While they might share a brotherly bond behind the scenes, Triple H’s latest comments on him indicate a probable bout between the two in the future.

The Rock vs The Game 2.0?

One thing that happened at the WrestleMania 40 kick-off was Johnson lashing out at Triple H after Cody Rhodes challenged Roman Reigns. While this might be scripted, it did catch HHH off guard. Following the press event, Triple H decided to take the stage to make one thing clear to everyone. On the 02/09 edition of SmackDown, he made it clear that he holds complete ‘authority’ in WWE.

He also mentioned that this authority belongs to him and him only and no one else could instruct him on what needs to be done. While he did not call The Brahma Bull out, it is clear that Triple H was talking about him. But Johnson was not present at the time when Triple H made this comment and the two haven’t faced each other since then. Is WWE planning to bring back the fan-favorite rivalry back?
