The SAG-AFTRA strike has ended. The unions, which represent the screen actors, had been on strike for almost 118 days now. Thanks to the strike, which represents nearly 160,000 media professionals, several Hollywood productions came to a screeching halt.
While the strike affected many, it had one positive aspect. WWE fans had the opportunity to see their favorite wrestlers, Dwayne ‘The Rock‘ Johnson and John Cena back in action in the squared ring. However, with the recent reports on the strike’s status, it looks like it might be time for fans to bid them farewell.

The entertainment media magazine Variety was the first to break the news that the historic SAG-AFTRA strikes will be ending soon. The union has finally accepted the deal presented to them by the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). However, details about the deal itself are scarce right now.

According to the rules of the union, stars are not allowed to be a part of the filming and/or marketing of a movie during the strikes. This was considered to be the primary reason Johnson and Cena entered the WWE ring once again. The union went on strike on July 14, 2023. They demanded revised pay, job security against artificial intelligence, and better working conditions for everyone involved. Hopefully, with the strike ending, these demands have been met sufficiently.
Dwayne Johnson’s return to WWE has been rather record-breaking, to say the least. He made his appearance on the September 15th episode of SmackDown, alongside his buddy Pat McAfee. The two were present in the ring against Austin Theory. However, things escalated pretty quickly and The People’s Champion ended up delivering The People’s Elbow to Theory.
John Cena on the other hand made his first appearance at Money in the Bank 2023. Following that, he became a part of WWE and eventually got roped into a rivalry with The Bloodline. A rivalry that might eventually cost him his career.
Is John Cena leaving WWE?
Way ahead of the strike coming to a halt, John Cena had teased his permanent retirement from pro wrestling. Cena had teamed up with LA Knight for this year’s Fastlane to go toe-to-toe against Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso. The two did indeed put up a good fight and eventually thwarted The Bloodline duo away. At the Fastlane media scrum, Cena was asked the inevitable question about his retirement.

To this, John Cena replied that a permanent retirement was on the cards. He also added that he was not able to move the way he used to before, thus not being able to give his best in the ring. Following that, he suffered a loss at the hands of Solo Sikoa. He was attacked by Sikoa with almost a dozen of Samoan Spikes. The star had previously said that if he lost this fight, he would be retiring. Even though it looks like Dwayne Johnson might still do a couple of rounds at WWE, do you think we will get to see John Cena after the strike ends?
