WWE will crown a brand-new World Heavyweight Champion at WWE Night of Champions on May 27. The tournament that started with 12 contestants has now gotten its two finals, who will battle it out to win the gold. The two finalists for the title tournament are AJ Styles and Seth Rollins. No one had seen this coming for ‘The Phenomenal One’, as his ankle injury last year in December left a big question mark on his pro wrestling career.
But he fought through his difficult time and, with a little inspiration and motivation, he came back to the squared circle.

A couple of days ahead of his big match at NOC, Styles had an interview with Sportsmail. During the interview, he revealed he had a tough time staying at home for his recovery. He thought he would go insane sitting idle at home, as he could do nothing because his ankle was all plastered.
He said, “I wanna go when I wanna go and do what I wanna do and when you’ve got a boot and crutches, it just hinders that and it will drive you nuts. That’s what drove me crazy, not being unable to be in a wrestling ring as I thought it would.”
However, when he went down to the WWE Performance Center as part of his recovery training, he saw young talents working incredibly hard. It motivated him to push and get better in order to make a comeback. “Whenever I finish from now on, I want to finish strong. Being down there really helped my motivation’,” he said.
He admitted he didn’t like staying away from the ring. But one good thing came out of his injury.
Styles enjoyed quality time with his family while being out of action
The 45-year-old star confessed he hated being at home because of his injury but he is also thankful for the quality time he got to spend together with his family. It was the longest he was away from the squared circle. Therefore, he had ample time to bond with his kids and wife, which he normally didn’t get while being on the road.

“I enjoyed the time. I enjoyed seeing my kids and my wife as it’s the first time I’ve been out this long in my career. So it kind of put things in perspective, like when retirement does come, I’m going to be ok,” he elucidated. Styles suffered an ankle injury in December 2022, during a WWE live event in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
