The last time WWE fans saw Drew McIntyre in action was at WrestleMania 39. It was a triple-threat match between Gunther, Sheamus and McIntyre for the Intercontinental Championship. Despite putting on a stellar performance, McIntyre lost that night and has been on a hiatus since then.

That was until he made his return at Money in the Bank charging up all the fans who wanted to see him in action soon. According to PW Insider, Drew, and WWE agreed upon his appearance at MITB.

They stated, “As we have been reporting for weeks, WWE wanted Drew McIntyre to return by today’s Money in the Bank PPV. That process had been impeded according to sources by McIntyre wanting a strong storyline upon his return. WWE got what they wanted as the two sides came to an agreement over the last few days and McIntyre will enter into a program with GUNTHER. He will be back on Raw as of this Monday.”

There was no news about the renewal of Drew’s contract which ends in 2024. PW Insider further stated, “We are told by two sources that McIntyre’s WWE contractual status has not changed and the two sides have not yet come to terms on a new deal or extension, so his contract is still due to expire in early 2024. The two sides have yet to even begin discussions on that deal, partially because there’s so much time left.”

Even though there is no solid news on him signing a new contract, going by what Triple H said about Mcintyre at the MITB press conference, he hopes that McIntyre stays with WWE for the rest of his career. But for now, he has his sight set on becoming the new Intercontinental Champion by defeating Gunther.

McIntyre will continue right where he left off, trying to win the Intercontinental Championship

Gunther was just celebrating his victory against Matt Riddle at MITB when that was short-lived with the entry of The Scottish Warrior. The whole stadium erupted as Drew McIntyre made his way to the ring. Fans went ballistic with deafening chants. The excitement was also evident on McIntyre’s face as he walked confidently to the ring.

The Ring General stood his ground as he always does when faced with a new challenge. They both stood eye to eye in the center of the ring with fans going crazy chanting for Mcintyre. After a few heated exchanges, Gunther tried to push Mcintyre away. But he returned with a destructive headbutt that sent Gunther to the ground and sent him packing with a Claymore.
