The couple left WWE during the same time in 2016 and while Brandi hasn’t returned to the fold yet, she is seen ringside during her husband’s important matches. They are undoubtedly a power couple in Vince McMahon’s WWE. But before meeting Brandi, Cody Rhodes seemed to have dated the ex-girlfriend of fellow WWE talent Xavier Woods. Or did he? Cody Rhodes recalls a strange encounter with Xavier Woods at a bowling alley

The WWE Universe loves both Cody Rhodes and Xavier Woods. They have also found success in the tag team division as wrestlers. Woods, particularly, is a 12-time WWE Tag Team Champion. The two wrestlers, however, were well acquainted with each other even before their WWE stints.

According to Rhodes, he and Woods went to school together. Speaking to Inside The Ropes in the past, Rhodes recalled their time in high school and narrated how he once greeted The New Day member at a bowling alley once.

“Xavier Woods and I went to high school together. We end up wrestling, one time he wrestles up a weight class to wrestle me. If you ask Xavier Woods he’s going to tell you a completely different version of the story. The legitimate version is he loses by just a few points,” he said. He then spoke about his time with Lindsey, a girl who, according to The Prince of Pro Wrestling, might have also dated Woods.

“Fast forward to I’m on their side of the town at a bowling alley, with a girl I just started seeing named Lindsey. I guess Lindsey and Xavier used to see one another, so Xavier Woods shows up…. And I see him, and I don’t know if I got lucky or not, but I grab the ball and roll it down the lane and it’s a f**king strike. And I walk over to him, and I said, ‘I know you, I beat you’ and I walk away and didn’t think anything of it,” Rhodes added.

Brandi and Cody Rhodes will complete 10 years of their marriage this September. The couple married met while working together in the WWE, during Cody’s earlier stint. However, Brandi had snubbed the second-generation WWE superstar initially.

In a previous interview with WrestlingInc.com’s Raj Giri, the former WWE employee, revealed how they started dating. She said while she was interested in the 37-year-old, her initial rejection stemmed due to the work environment. But after keeping Dusty Rhodes’ younger son waiting for a month, Brandi opened up, and they started dating.

This came to fruition as they married in 2013 and are now the parents of a daughter, Liberty Iris Runnels. The 37-year-old Rhodes is also a devoted family man. He recently celebrated his wife’s 40th birthday, which was also attended by another wrestling couple, who were set up by the Rhodes.
