Despite Past Differences, John Cena’s ‘Sincere’ Gesture Melted Ex-WWE Monster’s Heart in Seconds Before His WWE Departure

WWE star John Cena is known among fans for his humble nature and sincere personality. The Hollywood actor may have his detractors but by and large, he is well respected by his peers and other personalities. One such name who has not shied away from taking shots at Cena is former WWE star Ryback. However, despite their heated past and the fact Ryback never missed a chance to let his feelings out for Cena, it appears that both the stars have got soft spots in their hearts for one another.

Despite targeting WWE on multiple occasions, Ryback recently talked about a warm moment he shared with Cena that he still remembers.

What did John Cena do to appeal to his rival?

We can argue that the key to winning someone over is through kindness, appreciation, and understanding. John Cena made sure to give all of that to Ryback in the right amount. Ryback recently appeared in a podcast and recalled one of his ‘sweet’ moments with Cena. He admitted that the two of them didn’t get off to a great start in the promotion. Ryback remembered his former co-star in good memory.

Ryback recalled the time when both he and Cena were in a hotel in Saudi Arabia. Nobody was allowed to leave the hotel, so both of them were at the hotel gym. Since they were all alone, Cena took the opportunity to confess to his old rival, “I have nothing but respect for you that you’ve never let anything bother you. You stay positive. You’ve overcome everything, all this sh*t.”

“It meant a lot to me. He was being sincere about that,” said the 291lbs monster about Cena.

Although the two have had a long-running rivalry, as we mentioned before, this isn’t the first time that Ryback has shown his respect for the Hollywood star.

Ryback granted Cena an exemplary compliment

Ryback once tweeted out a memory he had with Cena. A video showed match highlights of the two wrestling against each other. In that match, Ryback destroyed Cena, and officials had to call medical assistance at the scene to aid Cena.

However, in the caption, Ryback actually complimented his opponent. He called Cena the ‘Babe Ruth’ of ‘wrestling’. This was a big deal because Ryback hasn’t talked about WWE or their biggest star in much positive light.

Moreover, Ryback ignored other WWE legends in order to give Cena a reputed title. These two incidents show that, despite their rivalry, the two have mutual respect for each other.
