In less than a week, WWE is going to fly to Detroit for one of its marquee premium live events, SummerSlam. The match card for the biggest event of the summer is replete with exciting matches. One of the most exciting feud-settling matches will see Brock Lesnar face off against Cody Rhodes. If history is anything to go by, Brock Lesnar has had an impressive track record at SummerSlam.

In fact, he won his first-ever WWE Championship at 25 years old in his debut year at SummerSlam. So is the Beast Incarnate worthy of being called Mr. SummerSlam? The WWE Universe doesn’t think so.

Brock Lesnar is gearing up to lock horns with Cody Rhodes in a grudge match at the upcoming premium live event. So far, Lesnar has victimized The American Nightmare throughout their feud. A few weeks ago, Lesnar humiliated Rhodes by dismantling him in front of his mother.

In the run-up to the event, the Wrestle Features Twitter page displayed Brock Lesnar’s SummerSlam win and loss record, prompting fans to debate whether he was worthy of the title “Mr. SummerSlam.”

As previously stated, SummerSlam 2002 was a watershed moment in Brock Lesnar’s career, as he dethroned The Rock and won the WWE Championship. Despite his historic victory over The Rock, Kurt Angle defeated The Next Big Thing Lesnar at SummerSlam the following year.

Hence, Lesnar is not undefeated at the event. In fact, last year, he faced off against Roman Reigns in a Last Man Standing Match in a losing effort. According to his track record, Lesnar has a total of six wins and five losses at SummerSlam. As a result, naming him Mr. SummerSlam is highly debatable. Make no mistake, Lesnar has dominated all of his opponents through and through.

Furthermore, Lesnar does not have to have a winning streak to be called “Mr. SummerSlam,” as Shawn Michaels is called “Mr. WrestleMania” despite having a 6-11 record.

Nonetheless, let’s find out how the fans reacted to Lesnar’s SummerSlam resume.

The likes of Edge, Bret Hart, and others have better track records than Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam

If the win record is not taken into account, Brock Lesnar is unquestionably Mr. WWE. There are, however, other superstars with more SummerSlam appearances and a larger number of victories than the former WWE Champion.

Bret Hart and Edge, to name a few, have legendary records at the event. The Hitman has competed in 11 matches, winning seven of them. On the other hand, Edge has competed in a total of 14 matches at SummerSlam, winning 12. Furthermore, WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan was defeated at SummerSlam, with a record of 6-0.

Nevertheless, here’s what the fans think about Brock Lesnar being called “Mr. SummerSlam”.

Well, Bret Hart’s match against SummerSlam in 1997 was one of the high points of his career. It was truly a 5-star match.

Although Brock Lesnar has not been active in the ring for the most part of his career, he has wrestled a considerable number of matches at SummerSlam. It would be a travesty to think that Lesnar doesn’t deserve the title due to the number of matches he wrestled at SummerSlam.

Despite his losses, Lesnar is unquestionably one of the event’s front-runners. We will have to wait and see if Brock Lesnar defeats Cody Rhodes to earn that title come Sunday.
