Do you remember the 2002 SummerSlam match between Brock Lesnar and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson? It was a historic occasion, one that go down as a milestone match for more than one reason. A young Lesnar took on the most electrifying man in the business and won the match clean and with it the WWE Championship. By virtue of his win, the OWV graduate wasn’t just ‘The Next Big Thing’ in the promotion anymore, he was the ‘big thing’ and WWE’s youngest-ever champion.

However, in terms of personalities, The Beast Incarnate and The Brahma Bull are poles apart. While Lesnar loves to keep his private life strictly away from the curious eyes of fans and media, a lot about Johnson has already been made public. That said, the two have an unusual common hobby.

Johnson is perhaps the richest pro wrestler in the world with a purse of $800 million. Thanks to his several booming businesses, and successful Hollywood career, the 51-year-old enjoys a lavish lifestyle. In comparison, Lesnar has a much more sedate life. However, they both love to spend time on their farms. This is a common thread that binds the two WWE icons together.

According to reports, Lesnar lives in Maryfield, Saskatchewan, Canada, with his family. His $2.1 million home is surrounded by farms. He grew up in a family of farmers, as per his book, Death Clutch: My Story of Determination, Domination, and Survival.

“Farming is the life I enjoy, and the one I look forward to most when my fight is over. I farm now because I choose to—not because it’s all I know. I’m not stuck on my farm. I want to be here,” a passage from his autobiography reads. Like Lesnar, Johnson loves his farm. He spoke about it in a post he shared on Instagram in May 2022.

“Getting killer training in here on my farm, deep in the country 💪🏾… Away from all the people & noise. Helps me recalibrate & reconnect with all the life stuff that really matters,” the 51-year-old posted. He said it helps him better his familial roles. “No doubt the anchoring time I spend on my farms makes me a better father, husband, son, friend and businessman,” he added.

Meanwhile, Lesnar not only wrote about his farm love, he also mentioned the aforementioned match in the book.

Brock Lesnar once said The Rock losing to him was “was business”

The SummerSlam match against Johnson put Lesnar on the map as he became the youngest WWE Champion and the second fastest, after Ric Flair, to capture a WWE belt. To get the new talent over, Vince McMahon chose his prime wrestler, The Rock, to get the job done.

It was the perfect moment for The Great One to lose as well, as he was looking for projects in Hollywood and needed a credible face to fight and drop his title. Lesnar seemed that man.

“I don’t know how many other guys Dwayne would have been happy to lose too clean, but he did it for me because he knew I could carry the torch for the company until he got it back. It wasn’t a gift. It was business,” the 45-year-old wrote. It clearly shows his admiration for the senior colleague. This love, however, isn’t one sided.
