The heated rivalry between Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins has been underway since Rhodes returned at WrestleMania. The American Nightmare and The Visionary’s feud has been talked about a lot in the WWE universe thanks to the top-quality performances in the ring. But aren’t the two WWE stars friends in real life? 

Based on the interviews that the two have given, they don’t like each other. Rhodes even said they aren’t exactly heading toward a friendship. But what does Rollins think of the returning second-generation star?

Rollins says he has absolute respect for Cody Rhodes

While on the SI Media With Jimmy Traina, Rollins was asked about his relationship with Rhodes. According to Traina, this is one of the most googled questions relating to Rollins. He emphasized that the WWE universe wanted to know if the two wrestlers were friends and what is the state of their professional relationship. 

Rollins said that Rhodes was a “100% incredible talent.” He also added that seeing Rhodes get out from under his father’s shadow was inspiring. According to Rollins, this task was very difficult, which Rhodes did incredibly well. 

Furthermore, he touched on the path Rhodes chose after leaving the WWE. He praised his efforts to start a rival promotion, AEW, and successfully run that. After this, he was able to return to the WWE and have an even more successful career. Continuing, he said there was not one wrong thing you could point out towards what Rhodes has done.

In conclusion, he finally touched upon the question, “Does that mean we’re best friends?” Rollins said, “Probably not.” This interview made it clear that Rollins respects Rhodes as a performer.


Similarly, during an interview, Rhodes said that the two have a very complex relationship. He went on to justify it by saying there was respect along with a level of competition.

Rhodes could write an entire book on Rollins’s value to WWE

While on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Rhodes opened up about his relationship with Rollins. He said he and Seth were not friends and didn’t think it could happen.

Rhodes went on to say that if he were ever to write a book, Rollins would get an entire chapter. Similarly to what Rollins said in his interview, even Rhodes praised Rollins. He considers Rollins to bring massive value to the WWE and shared his opinion that Rollins was utilized in the WWE.

It does look like there is mutual respect between the two stars but a friendship may not be likely at least not on screen. Their dedication to their characters has made it difficult for fans to believe whether they are playing their WWE avatars or talking about real life when they mention each other.
