In the newest episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Matt Hardy spoke about Roman Reigns’ recent title run and the possibility of it crossing Hulk Hogan’s prestigious run with the Championship.

Matt Hardy gave his opinion on the recent title run of The Tribal Chief when he said, “No, they want him to pass the thousand days and they want him to do this. And I feel like the longer it goes and the deeper we get into it probably the more cognizant they’re going to be of like ‘Oh, it’s a really long reign, it’s a really historic reign.’”

Hardy feels that WWE wanted Reigns to cross the 1000-day mark to make his reign historic. It would help WWE label their current phase as one of the greatest since their Champion had a longer reign than others. He feels that this is the reason Cody Rhodes didn’t win against Reigns at WrestleMania 39.

He further expressed his opinion over how long Reigns’ run with the Championship can last. He said, “Yeah that one’s really not feasible [breaking Bruno San Martino’s first record]. I don’t know, but I could see him beating Bruno’s reign and in all honesty, I could see him beating Hogan’s reign. I feel like at this point, they’re making a statement. I feel specifically why it’s happening.

Hardy feels that Reigns can’t break San Martino’s first record of 2,803 days given the circumstances now. But he can climb up the ladder to break Hulk Hogan’s record as WWE is trying to make a statement.

Roman Reigns is positioned 4th on the all-time list

Bruno San Martino holds the record for the longest title reign with 2803 days from 1963 to 1971. Following him is Bob Backlund, with a run of 2135 days, and Hulk Hogan’s reign of 1474 days. Currently, Reigns is positioned at 4 with a run of 1117+ days with the Universal Championship.
