Controversial Ex-NXT Star Sends Apology for His Past Actions

After a turbulent and scandalous tenure with WWE, Patrick Clark, better known as Velveteen Dream, left the company in May 2021. Amid significant charges, Dream’s career veered away from being viewed as a promising young star with limitless potential.

This past week, the former WWE superstar made headlines when he apologized for his serious background. He feels bad about his actions and has apologized to many.

Dream apologizes for his actions to everyone

Former wrestling star Clark faced allegations of inappropriate conduct in April 2020, escalated in August 2022, and was arrested for battery, trespassing, and drug-related charges. In September, EC3 accused Velveteen Dream of filming explicit videos without consent.

EC3 further claimed that WWE was aware of these actions. In a subsequent Instagram video, the former NXT North American Champion issued apologies to WWE, Triple H, and Shawn Michaels. 

He said, “As you’ve probably seen or heard throughout the last few years. I want to apologize for my behavior, both professionally and personally.” Clark also added, “I take full accountability for my behavior over the last three years of my life. I want to apologize to the WWE organization for any unwanted attention. And negative press that I brought to your brand and your product. I want to apologize to the WWE fans and The Velveteen Dream fans,” he further apologized to the entire WWE firm. 

He added, “I want to apologize to Paul Levesque. Paul, you are such an understanding and patient man and leader and getting the opportunity to work with you and to learn from you. Also, I want to say I’m sorry to Shawn Michaels. Shawn, it’s still beyond me that I’ve been having the opportunity in this lifetime to learn from you.” Acknowledging his mistakes, he expressed remorse and gratitude for the lessons learned, addressing Triple H and Shawn Michaels. 

During the apology video, Clark extended apologies to his family and friends, including Tehuti Miles (Ashante Adonis), emphasizing that no one else should bear the burden of responsibility for his mistakes.

When did Velveteen Dream join WWE?

Velveteen Dream’s journey with WWE began when he participated in the sixth season of WWE Tough Enough, eventually earning a contract with the company in 2015. Transforming in 2017, he emerged as the charismatic Velveteen Dream, making a mark as the NXT North American Champion. 

He also engaged in feuds with some of the Black and Gold brand’s top names. Unfortunately, after a significant hiatus from the ring, Velveteen Dream was released from WWE in May 2021.
