Cody Rhodes Disappointingly Explains Why He Did Not Feature in WWE 2K22

WWE WrestleMania 38, the crowd went crazy when Cody Rhodes stepped inside the arena as the surprise opponent of Seth Rollins. The major reason behind the pop was his new in-ring character. Rhodes finally shed his old ‘Stardust’ gimmick and emerged as the ‘American Nightmare’. 

Despite getting so much love and an amazing comeback, Cody Rhodes was not in the WWE 2K game that year. Several fans raised questions on WWE for this decision but there wasn’t any answer before. However, now, Rhodes finally broke the silence and pulled the drapes off this mystery. 

Cody Rhodes reveals the reason behind not being on WWE 2K22

The WWE superstar Cody Rhodes recently gave an interview with ‘Comic Book Nation’. There, he finally opens up about the injustice of not being added to the WWE 2K22. But surprisingly, Rhodes didn’t entirely blame the company. He took some of the blame on himself as well. 

The WWE Royal Rumble 2023 winner said that he doesn’t blame 2K for not putting him in the game as one of the reasons he is not in the game is because he was very fussy about his ‘American Nightmare’ gimmick. 

Talking to the host, Cody Rhodes said, “I wouldn’t put the heat on 2K in me not being in the game initially……..The reason being, I’m very particular about the American Nightmare, the whole concept of it. It’s something I built while I was away and until you know people are gonna fully immerse themselves in it, they are familiar with it, they respect it, and they only wanna further give it a signal boost like 2K can do, it just takes time…..I wanted to make sure it was done correctly. I’m also super petty about ‘what’s my number?”

Not only this, but Rhodes was also quite conscious about his Stardust gimmick. He didn’t want anyone to compare his current gimmick with ‘Stardust’.

Cody Rhodes further mentioned that he didn’t want his ‘Stardust’ character to get in the way of his current character and that’s the reason he took a little while.

“Some of these people were working here when I was Stardust, and I know from the cannon of it all. If you look at it Stardust was a big loser……….. ‘I hope they know it’s a different me.’ Most of this crew is more than aware of that and they’ve seen what has happened in our entire industry. I’m very hands-on with it all, which is why it may have taken longer.”

If we talk about Cody Rhodes’ character in 2K23, then the game has perfectly portrayed his ‘American Nightmare’ gimmick with a rating of 91. 2023 has been a year of ups and downs for him.

First, he won the men’s Royal Rumble match and feuded with the ‘Tribal Chief’ Roman Reigns.  But he was unable to capture the coveted WWE Championship. And now, he is feuding with Brock Lesnar after ‘The Beast’ brutally attacked him on RAW after WrestleMania.
