The opening segment of the second episode of Monday Night RAW was white hot. Airing live from the Moda Center, Portland, Oregon. The opening segment saw Drew McIntyre calling out everyone who has been in his way, including CM Punk. Punk not being one to shy away from a confrontation came out to confront McIntyre. This led to the former AEW star calling out everyone who would be a hurdle for him at the Royal Rumble.

CM Punk calls out Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins

Once The Second City Saint was in the ring, Punk and McIntyre initiated a verbal beatdown on each other. Punk was called a demon, to which he retorted that he was the Devil. This could be a cheeky dig at Adam Cole of AEW who revealed himself as The Devil.

Punk continuing his motto that he wasn’t here to make friends said, “You can’t stop me from winning the Royal Rumble, Seth Rollins can’t stop me from winning the Royal Rumble, Cody can’t stop me from winning the Royal Rumble.” The winner of the Royal Rumble match could opt to meet Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40 for the WWE World Heavyweight title at the Main Event.

This would be the first time we’d hear something negative from Punk regarding Cody Rhodes. To date, he’s only spoken in a positive light about ‘The American Nightmare’. While not exactly in a negative light, the line clearly means the two are going to face off in the Royal Rumble match. Moreover, both have a lot riding on their win at the Rumble, it will be every man for himself.

How CM Punk and Cody Rhodes could meet at a crossroads

While there are no plans for Punk and Rhodes to cross paths, there is a chance the two might have an issue with each other. This issue is named Roman Reigns if Punk decides to go after him. While Punk is after Seth Rollins’ WWE World Heavyweight title, there is a chance that the WWE could push Punk towards the WWE Universal championship.

If this happens, it will hinder Rhodes from completing his story. While Rhodes and Punk have zero bad blood, this hindrance to Rhodes’ conclusion could affect it. Furthermore, Rhodes has waited for almost a year to complete his story and fans are waiting for it.
