While CM Punk’s return is still making waves in the pro wrestling community, he decided to set the world ablaze by making a controversial statement. While the star is known for stirring up controversies, he stole the limelight at last week’s episode of Raw by making the “‘I’m not here to make friends, I’m here to make money” statement. Though many believed it to be a bold statement, a former WWE star and Punk’s old rival believes that the statement was made out of desperation.

Was it a deliberate move by CM Punk?

Talking on his podcast Kliq This, six-time World Champion and CM Punk’s old foe Kevin Nash shared his views on the statement made by The Second City Saint. He said, “For somebody that was so ‘pipe bomb,’ it felt very contrived”. While he felt that it was a desperate measure taken by Punk to stir up controversy, he also thought that Punk might have done it to gain some credibility.

After repeating the 47-year-old star’s quote, Nash said, “ I’ve heard that before.” The heated rivalry between the two began back in 2011. At SummerSlam 2011, Nash cost Punk his win thus initiating the friction. Even though the two never squared off in the ring, they often had segments where they went back and forth in a verbal showdown.
