CM Punk Gives Major Injury Update, Authenticates Fans’ Speculation

CM Punk‘s fans were excited to see him finally wrestle in a match at Royal Rumble this year. Even though the Chicago-based wrestler ended up getting eliminated last during the PLE, fans were still hopeful of seeing him achieve bigger things in the future. Unfortunately for them, Punk revealed that he endured a severe injury during the battle royale match in January 2024.

During one of the spots in the men’s Royal Rumble match, the former AEW star suffered an injury to his right tricep. This led to the wrestler eventually announcing after the PLE that he wouldn’t be participating in WrestleMania 40. Now, he has given further clarification regarding his injury and return.

CM Punk subtly confirms fan speculations

Ever since he announced that he won’t be returning to wrestling anytime soon, fans started speculating when they may see him return to the promotion. There were heavy speculations that we will see “The Best in the World” return to WWE in SummerSlam 2024. Now, his words suggest that this may be true. UFC 298 took place on February 17th and CM Punk was present at the MMA event to cheer his favorite fighters from the stands. After the event, Punk appeared in an interview. When asked about his elbow injury, Punk replied, “Mentally, I think it’s harder. The physical pain is, whatever, but I look at it just like a bump in the road…. It’s just an occupational hazard. It happens. And I’ll be back bigger and better.”

Punk also elaborated that he is expecting to be back within 6 to 8 months from February. Calculating the estimated time gives us a possible timeline for him to return to the ring at SummerSlam this year in August.

Even before the brief interview, CM Punk came to Monday Night Raw to announce his injury news while also promising a monumental return.

On Monday Night Raw 02/05, the former AEW star walked to the squared circle for a segment, addressing his fans in the promotion. He took a moment to announce that he would be out of action, moving forward because of his injury. Although Punk didn’t reveal his return timeline to the fans back then, he did assure them that it would be bigger than they expect.

CM Punk indirectly asked his fans to have patience while he recovers because once he returns, their patience will greatly be repaid.
