Brock Lesnar is currently sidelined from WWE after being named in Janel Grant’s lawsuit against the company, Vince McMahon, and John Laurinaitis. With the legal complications, apparently also involving the Beast Incarnate, the company earlier tried its best to erase Lesnar from everything WWE, notably from Royal Rumble, promotional material for WWE 2K24, and the WWE 2K Supercard mobile game. However, recent developments suggest he could be returning,

The promotion recently brought back the Beast into the WWE Superstar roster, just in time for WrestleMania XL. This has given rise to speculation about whom the WWE veteran will face once he returns, possibly on WrestleMania. Well, it might be a dream match come true for fans, as well as WWE’s Gunther.

Next week, six members of the ‘WWE Raw’ locker room will compete in a high-stakes match, where the winner will earn the right to challenge Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 40. While many fans are pushing for Zayn or Gable’s win next week, it is possible that the WWE could venture down another booking route?

Given that Gunther was recently positioned in a match against a heat magnet like Dominik Mysterio, the WWE may be exploring the possibility of a facelift for Gunther. And what better opponent than a beast like Brock Lesnar?

Last year, Gunther named Brock Lesnar as his dream opponent. “You never really know what you get with Brock,” he said. “It’s definitely a match I want to have, and I want to do. I feel Brock is somebody, I just make it my thing, I make him my personal End Boss. That’s the guy that, at one point, I have to step in the ring [with] to validate myself.” Amid calling Lesnar his “biggest obstacle at some point in my career,” it was reported that there were plans for the pair to face off for the first time at WWE WrestleMania 40.

However, things took a surprising turn last month when Lesnar was apparently implicated in the lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE. In interviews in the past, Gunther made it clear that he still does not have a definite opponent for WrestleMania. Still, the fact that he knows there are many candidates to challenge him for his championship is something that makes him happy.

It is clear that Gunther is not worried about who will challenge him in the great event. He’s proven himself as a fighter who delivers exceptional matches with anyone on the roster. However, it is seemingly likely that Lesnar and Chad Gable are the favorites to challenge the leader of Imperium at WrestleMania 40. Wait, why Gable, you may ask? Well, here’s the story.

In mid-2023, Gunther and Chad Gable faced each other on multiple occasions. In all of them, the Austrian prevailed, leaving Gable and his fans devastated as the American dreamed of becoming Intercontinental champion, obtaining his first singles title in WWE. Despite WrestleMania fast approaching, it is still unclear who Gunther’s opponent will be. But many fans have called for Chad Gable to face the Austrian in the ‘Showcase of the Immortals.’

As a result, in a recent interview on Battleground Podcast, the Intercontinental champion stated that he is willing to face Gable again, this time at WrestleMania 40. “I think [Gable is] a phenomenal athlete. He’s a great technician, and the matches we had were phenomenal, and the audience enjoyed them all. So if it should come to that, for WrestleMania, then yeah, I’m here for it,” said Gunther.
