In the late 90s and the early 2000s, the professional wrestling promotion WCW was the arch-rival of WWE. Both companies were competing for the top spot in the professional wrestling industry.
During this tense time, several new stars got offers from both promotions as both wanted the best talent on their rosters. One of the recipients was ‘The Beast’ Brock Lesnar. At the time, he was just a budding talent. But he could have easily become the one to draw the curtains on WWE.

A few years back, the WWE superstar Brock Lesnar revealed how a big name from WCW approached him just after he graduated from college. The big name was none other than the senior vice president of the company, Eric Bischoff.
“I talked with Eric Bischoff and uh mostly him yeah……. and yeah Paul Orndorff also.”, said Brock Lesnar.
Bischoff approached Brock Lesnar in the early 2000s, right after WCW’s 83-week winning streak over WWE finally ended and the company was trying to get on top again with the help of fresh talent.
Imagine what could have happened if Lesnar had joined WCW. There wouldn’t have been any Hulk Hogan and Brock Lesnar feud. WWE wouldn’t have been popular among the UFC audience. The end of The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak wouldn’t have been that epic. Additionally, there wouldn’t have been any ‘Beast’ to raise WWE’s ratings when they got down.

When he talked to Vince McMahon, he felt like his conditions were being fulfilled. So he took WWE’s offer. Just a year later, Vince McMahon bought WCW.
Talking to the host, Brock Lesnar said, “I think with the professionalism. When I went to meet with Jim and Vince and just I want to be with a top-notch business…….. I always wanna be around people that always have big goals.”
Eric Bischoff once admitted that he had a great chance to sign Brock Lesnar in 1999, a year before WWE approached him, but he let it slip from his hands as he was waiting for the right time.
