Lately, however, several truths about his celebrated career are coming out that display how hollowed out he had become.

Quite unsurprisingly, Ric Flair unearthed another thing that had been eating away at his mental health in his active days. Moreover, he revealed exactly why he didn’t put an end to his career when he easily could, and why it lasted so long.

Ric Flair is arguably revered as the greatest wrestler of all time. His career as a pro wrestler spanned nearly five decades, which makes up two-thirds of his 74-year-long life. However, there did come a period when he was done with wrestling in 2008. Flair was recently featured in the podcast of Chris Van Vliet, where he explained why he chose to come out of retirement later.

Flair was given an emotional send-off by WWE on RAW after WrestleMania XXIV, where he faced Shawn Michaels in his last match in WWE. However, Flair would return to the ring soon after with TNA.

Ric Flair said, “When you’re paying alimony to three people at one time. Yeah, that’s the only reason that caused it. I just got myself jammed… I blame it on myself. But the day that I left wrestling I.. I mean I’ve been doing it for 39 or 40 years. The next day I… We were in St. Croix with my wife and I… I was miserable.”

The issue of Ric Flair and his marriages has frequently come up. While Flair had trouble with divorces, the legal conventions were really crashing down hard on him at the time.

Flair also mentioned, “I was just so used to walking in that locker room and ‘how you doing’ the guys and going to catering and….and then I couldn’t get myself to stay home. I had to go out at night. I’m still the same way. I have a really hard time staying home.” The confession from Flair seems very natural. Having wrestled for so long, wrestling had become a part of the nature of the Nature Boy.

The sleeplessness that haunted Ric Flair

Ric Flair had been at the top of the pro wrestling world for almost his entire career. This put several expectations on the Nature Boy, and he always delivered on them. However, this took a huge toll on his body, as Flair had developed severe sleeplessness. The 16-time World champion found it very hard to fall asleep on his own. In fact, this problem made him turn to Xanax and alcohol whenever he wanted to sleep.

However, the solution to this problem of his was revealed by the operations head of Mike Tyson’s cannabis empire, Adam Wilks. Speaking to EssentiallySports in an exclusive interview, Wilks revealed that he was extremely concerned about Flair’s continuous usage of Xanax.
