Mercedes Mone, f.k.a Sasha Banks, is looking to broaden her horizon outside the squared circle. The former five-time Raw Women’s Champion is reportedly being considered to star in a feature film spinoff of Spiderman, alongside Bad Bunny. It should be noted that Mercedes Mone is no stranger to being featured on the silver screen.

In fact, she was cast in Disney’s Mandalorian series, playing the role of Koska Reeves. And now, the future looks brighter than ever for the NJPW star. But, let’s not forget, recent developments have also led to the rumor of the film’s cancellation.

The CEO is currently signed to NJPW. Months after her suspension from WWE due to the infamous walkout, Mone joined NJPW in the wake of her WWE release. She then captured the IWGP Women’s title by defeating Kairi at Battle in the Valley PPV. The 31-year-old star later dropped the title to Mayu Iwatani at Stardom’s All-Star Grand Queendom event before being sidelined due to an ankle injury.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony has considered Mercedes Mone for a role in the Spider-Man spinoff, El Muerto. The report read, “The feature was also not yet cast but sources say that the studio was making choices and had been circling professional wrestler Mercedes Varnado, known by her stage name as Sasha Banks, for a role,”

Aside from Mone, Grammy winner rap icon and major WWE attraction, Bad Bunny is cast in the film. However, the scheduled release date of the film was recently pushed back due to an ongoing writer’s strike. The film was initially slated to be released on January 12, 2024. But at this point, it is unknown if the project is even in the works. Moreover, Bad Bunny’s busy schedule could also lead to a further delay in production.
