In 2006 WWE revived ECW on its programming and put Heyman in charge. A pivotal moment appeared in the December to Dismember Pay-Per-View of 2006. The main event, an Elimination Chamber match, pitted ECW World Champion Big Show against fierce competitors. Here’s where the story took a turn – Heyman championed CM Punk and RVD as the winners, while McMahon favored the might of Bobby Lashley and Test.

Heyman’s creative pitch for Punk’s victory was ignored. Instead, Lashley emerged as the new ECW Champion, leaving Heyman’s vision shattered. A clash of creative minds ignited the feud between Heyman and McMahon. Their discord grew, fueled by differing visions for the brand’s future. Eventually, it led to Heyman’s unceremonious exit from WWE.

Since then Heyman has been an integral part of WWE’s storylines, with his current run as special counsel to Roman Reigns arguably being his most interesting tenure in the promotion.
