Amid the Ongoing Writers’ Strike in Hollywood, John Cena Adds a New Feather in His Cap Thanks to James Gunn and DCEU

Hollywood is under strike right now. The Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) have gone on a strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) as threats of AI and streaming looms on the heads of actors and writers.

Actors and writers are fighting for the media companies to pay them better and prevent artificial intelligence from stealing their jobs. Amid this tense situation, where people are out of work, John Cena is still minting money, all thanks to James Gunn and DCEU.

Peacemaker to debut in Mortal Kombat 1

John Cena’s superhero character Peacemaker will be available as a playable character in the popular game Mortal Kombat 1. This announcement broke out during the San Diego Comic-Con event. IGN shared this news on social media stating that Peacemaker along with Homelander from the TV series The Boys and Omni-Man from the animated series Invincible will join the returning characters Quan Chi, Ermac, Takeda, Li Mei, Tanya, and Baraka.

Mortal Kombat 1 will hit the market on September 19, 2023. It will be available to play on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S. The twelfth main installment in the renowned Mortal Kombat series is set to release as a sequel to the highly successful 2019 Mortal Kombat 11.

NetherRealm Studios carried out the development of the game and Warner Bros. Games undertook the publication. The Hollywood world may have come to a standstill, but Cena is still thriving in the industry. But the strike is also becoming a huge trouble for Cena, now.

Reports suggest that Cena’s new film project has hit a roadblock due to the ongoing Hollywood strike. Cena was shooting for his upcoming film, Head of State, starring Idris Elba and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in London. The ongoing strike of actors and writers has led to an abrupt halt in the production.

It is very less likely the shooting will get continued, attest not until the strike gets lifted.
