The Sheik’s unfortunate passing came to light through a Twitter post. It immediately garnered tons of emotional responses from some big names in the company, including Triple H, Dwayne Johnson, etc. Now, wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer came up with bizarre information from the late star’s WWE record book that you might not be aware of.

We can reminisce about the legend’s iconic journey. For the unversed, The Iron Sheik’s gimmick proved as a boon to the industry during the 1980s. His unfathomable anti-heroics were unmatched.

Recently, Meltzer added to the list of his numerous records in his latest report. He noted on WON, ”Once when Vince McMahon and I were discussing Sheik, he made a mention that Sheik or Marty Jannetty held the record for most times being fired.”

Shiek was portrayed in WWE across five runs starting in 1979 before being fired and returning in 1983, 1988, and 1991.

The veteran Iranian American wrestler was the longest-serving wrestler in the history of WWE, with an illustrated career that spanned nearly four decades.

What made his stardom even more remarkable, is his not-so-well-polished background. From a working-class individual in rural Iran to one of the most renowned superstars in the US, the journey inspires millions. According to some reports, he even served as a bodyguard for Reza Shah. It really showed Sheik’s legitimacy and dedication as a responsible worker, regardless of the status and nature of that particular work.

While the loss of a true gem of the wrestling industry can’t be compensated in any way, the least we can do is pay our heartfelt condolence to the family of the deceased icon.
