One of the greatest in-ring performers of all-time, WWE superstar Edge probably had his last match in the promotion under the current contract on the latest episode of WWE SmackDown. His long illustrious career spanning 25 years in WWE came to an end for now with a classic match with Sheamus.
After producing a banger with Sheamus, Edge would soak in the cheers from the crowd as his probable retirement loomed over his shoulders. However, soon after SmackDown went off the air, two other close colleagues of Edge would enter the ring, and give him a heartfelt moment of respect.

The Rated-R superstar had his final match in the promotion under his current contract against Sheamus and would end the night with one of the best matches in a long-time. Soon after the bout was over, The Scottish Warrior Drew McIntyre and Sami Zayn would enter the ring.
The two veteran superstars would lift Edge up on their shoulders and send him home with an immense amount of respect. It showed how much love and respect the locker room had for the WWE Hall of Famer.
The moment also saw the return of Kevin Owens who had been sidelined with an injury for a long amount of time. The entire segment was extremely wholesome, and showed a different side of the superstars the fans are used to seeing on camera.

With Edge’s contract now up, fans and pundits now wonder where The Rated-R superstar might be headed next. Is an AEW debut on the charts?

What is next for Edge in the near future?
With his contract now up, and him being cleared for wrestling, a return to AEW is very much on the charts. A final reunion with Christian and a probable battle against The Hardy Boyz would be enough to hype up the crowd.
Edge, Christian, and The Hardy Boyz share an impressive history, and a final match involving the four of them would surely be a treat for the fans. Christian has been in AEW for a long-time now, and so has The Hardy Boyz. With only Edge left out of this iconic tandem, his debut in the promotion would only mean one thing.
