It’s a well-known fact that Black Adam, starring Dwayne Johnson, was a box office debacle. Despite having Johnson, who’s a box office magnet, the film shocked fans with its poor collection and reception. Now Johnson has highlighted another major reason for its failure.

In a candid conversation with Kevin Hart, Johnson shared some interesting details that sealed the movie’s fate from the get-go.
Decoding the 100-200 million dollars mistake
After months of anticipation of seeing Johnson in the DCEU universe, the final product underwhelmed fans.
The result was a colossal misfire at the box office, causing heavy losses to James Gunn. Johnson stated that the movie “got caught in the vortex of a new leadership”
According to Variety, Johnson also said that China’s exclusion caused an immense loss to the makers. Calling it one of the biggest mysteries, he quoted: “That will always be one of the biggest mysteries I think. You have the biggest opening of your career. Sure, no China, that could’ve been maybe 100 or 200 million more dollars.”

Unfortunately, even after bringing back Superman and trying to create a diverse universe, the film couldn’t please fans who rejected the film outright. But what’s more interesting is that despite it opening bigger to its other competitor, the movie folded up below $400 million, halting the makings of Black Adam 2.
Dwayne Johnson aims to look forward rather than dwell on the mistakes of the past
Interestingly, the star gave an NFL analogy stating: ‘Not my head coach, not my quarterback.’ It doesn’t matter how many times you won the Super Bowl or how many rings you got, I am going with somebody else.”
With the massive disappointment of the movie, it’s unlikely that the makers will produce part two of the film. However, many fans see this as a small pleb for the giant megastar who’s more accustomed to delivering smashing hits.

Talking to Hart, Johnson also expressed a desire to venture into a new space and genre, like a musical, hinting at a new project to his fans. This could satiate the desire of the star’s fans who clamor for more variety in the roles Johnson opts for.
