As per Austin, his team went for antelope hunting on 24 August, which continued till the next day. He explained how he managed to shoot a buck from a range of 520 yards. They continued following another buck till the next day as they could not get close enough.

He posted, “Antelope hunt comes to an end today. Yesterday I connected on a great buck at 520 yards with one shot. Then this morning I connected on another great buck we were actually hunting yesterday morning. He kept out of range and kept giving us the slip. We kept finding them, but could not get close enough for a shot.” In the post he explained how they kept chasing the bucks and finally Austin decided to take a shot at the second buck at 600 yards.

He asked the Nevada hunting services when he was facing trouble getting closer to the second antelope. Austin used a 3-14X Boone and Crockett reticle for his long-range shot. He took help from his friends to bring the antelope within his range, down to 300 yards before finally using his .300 Win Mag for a final shot.

Fans boo Austin for hunting ‘innocent soul’

One fan commented “Hey Steve. Much love and respect to you, but hunting isn’t it. There’s other fun ways to use a rifle that doesn’t have to do with killing innocent souls for “fun”.
