After grossing close to $1 billion at the box office worldwide, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle has now found a new home at one of the leading OTT platforms, Amazon Prime. The movie starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan was released in 2017 under the label of Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks Production. It was directed by Jake Kasdan with a budget of around $90 million.

This move comes after DJ’s Black Adam’s success on Netflix where it made it to the top charts of movies.

Dwayne Johnson’s take on Jumanji finds a new home

As per the description on Amazon Prime, the third installment in the Jumanji franchise is about “Four teens find adventure as adults inside a video game that transports them to the jungle.” The movie has a slight change in the plot as compared to the previous instalments as the notorious game behaves differently this time. The board transports the player into a magical world and then works as an RPG game.

The movie is a good deal for Amazon Prime as Welcome to the Jungle can be considered a family movie with a 13+ rating. It received a rating of 6.9 on IMDb and 7/10 on Rotten Tomatoes.

It comes as a pleasant surprise for Johnson’s fans as one of his movies took over Netflix previously. Black Adam was purchased by Netflix for a whooping price that placed it at #7 on Netflix’s all-time list. Though the movie did not perform well on Box Office, the prices may have surged due to a licensing deal between Warner Bros., Discovery, and Netflix. The deal has also affected other major titles in DCEU.
