After Finding Common Ground on Politics, Dwayne Johnson Reaches Out to an American Country Musician Who Reached a Humble Feat Lately

Dwayne Johnson is a secure man. The star always stands up for people undergoing controversy, regardless of whether it hampers his reputation in the media eye. He also occasionally likes to stir things up with his political interests. With that in mind, recently Johnson came in support of an overnight sensation, Oliver Anthony, after his latest song came under severe scrutiny.

But negating all the noise that the singer has been causing among media, Johnson publicly appreciated Anthony on his social media, grabbing more attention.

While the issue is slightly sensitive, the gist of the matter involves Anthony and his song “Rich Men North of Richmond” gaining considerable traction all over the world.

The track gained massive traction in a short period of time. Joe Rogan also shared the song on X and the song spread like wildfire. As of now, the hit track has amassed over 48 million views on YouTube. 

The song then rose to the top of the BillBoards chart, setting various records for an uncharted artist. Not only that, it connected among the masses so much that Anthony’s followers grew from 300  to 4 million on Spotify.

Acknowledging this feat, the artist took to his Instagram to thank people for their support. While several people responded, it was DJ’s reply that caught everyone’s attention. He said: “Great to connect with u brother. Way handle your fame & influence with class & kindness. Keep kicking ass and see u down the road 🥃”

While this is a remarkable moment for the artist to receive laurels from an $800 million entity like Johnson who never sways away from reaching out to people when in need, many wonder if his response is hinting at his support for Anthony after landing in a bad controversy.

Even though the song charted well, it still came under severe scrutiny. The lyrics especially proved to receive backlash as many listeners found the song “offensive”.

Responding to these allegations, the singer also issued a statement clarifying his song has nothing to do with any political parties and that the song is being “misinterpreted”. He also added that he doesn’t wish his song to be weaponized. 

The musician has denied being aligned with any political party, making him similar to Johnson. For those unversed, like Anthony, DJ has also described in the past not being affiliated with any of the US political parties.
