When Endeavor acquired WWE, veterans of the industry expected mass layoffs in the wrestling company. This turned out to be true as WWE let go of 21 of its stars in one go. Names like Dolph Ziggler, Elias, and Shelton Benjamin were among those shown the door. And now it turns out it may not be the last of budget cuts by the new owners.

Are WWE jobs under threat again?

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was revealed that another mass layoff could be approaching on the corporate side.

Dave Meltzer wrote, “The company noted that there will be a great decrease in expenses in eliminating jobs in IT, marketing, finance, human resources and legal when it comes to overlapping personnel in UFC and WWE who can do those jobs for both companies. They expect to save $50 million to $100 million, and the figure was said to be expected to be the high end of this range, with 75 percent of the savings being on the books for 2024.”

This implies that a lot of in-ring talent could be safe from the layoffs as the cuts will mostly happen in other departments.

If the layoff remains different in this above-mentioned criterion, then most fans wouldn’t have much to worry about. This would be a strong contrast to the way 21 talents were released from the top wrestling company during one single wave.

WWE let go off numerous wrestlers in one go

Apart from their off-screen talents, the company also fired several performing talents as part of their layoffs. The motivation for firing both categories of employees could have been the same, to save up money to utilize it somewhere else. However, the thought process must have been different because Endeavor couldn’t think of replacing a wrestling talent when WWE was the first big wrestling company they were dealing with.

Among the long list of talented wrestlers, Dolph Ziggler was also there. The list included many names that fans wouldn’t be missing that much, while it also included wrestlers who had an important place in the audience’s hearts.

So, if this time more wrestlers are released, it is expected that performing talents won’t be on the list.
