Cody Rhodes came out tonight looking sharp as ever to address what Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson said on last week’s episode of SmackDown. During his promo, Paul Heyman interrupted him and proposed an offer. Furthermore, their interaction led to Rhodes referring to the Amazon Prime show The Boys. This reference got over both in the arena and online with fans already spreading speculations of what it meant.
Cody Rhodes hints at Homelander-esque violence against Paul Heyman
Cody Rhodes came out to a standing ovation from the audience. This promo was anticipated by the audience at the PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina. After The Rock performed his concert last week on SmackDown, Rhodes would have a rebuttal. Taking the ring, he acknowledged how Johnson insulted his mother and retorted by praising The Rock’s mother. He went on to claim that his own mother would never do what The Brahma Bull claimed she was because she was stronger than Johnson believed.

This led to Paul Heyman coming out to the ring and interrupting Rhodes. The Wise Man had an offer for The American Nightmare for the upcoming episode of SmackDown. Heyman claimed that if Rhodes agreed to show up on the episode, he could have Roman Reigns without The Bloodline. Rhodes accepted, which led to Heyman claiming he had forgotten something.
This is where the fans started booing Heyman, and Rhodes said, “They’re booing you, and I’m about to go full Homelander and rip your throat off.” This referenced the negative character Homelander from the hit Amazon Prime series The Boys. The character is known and loved for being extremely violent despite having the moniker of being a superhero. The pro wrestling community was quick to take to social media to talk about the line and speculate what it could mean.
Fans laud Rhodes for referencing Homelander
Wrestling fans took to social media to talk about the line and reference. Many believed that it could be a hint that Cody Rhodes had a Homelander-inspired gear at WrestleMania XL ready to go. Others believed it could mean we’ll see a more aggressive and ruthless Rhodes. While some thought the reference was too much for the biggest babyface in the WWE. The first speculation was that Rhodes would showcase a Homelander-inspired gear at Mania

While this user didn’t want Rhodes to portray this type of negative image
Cody Rhodes calling himself Homelander is not the image you want to portray as the biggest babyface in WWE
