Dwayne Johnson has indeed reached the peak heights of success in numerous domains. The 51-year-old has seemingly portrayed himself as a true role model for many. He didn’t reach those heights in a quick succession of time. There were true hardships that were suffered by the Great One.

Before coming to the field of movies The Rock was a professional wrestler. From thereon, he became a prominent figure in sports entertainment. But the journey was not easy for him. The words of Johnson in a recent Instagram video tell a somewhat similar story about how he dealt with the criticism of the fans when he was a new face in pro wrestling.

Dwayne Johnson was able to turn fan’s love into criticism

Dwayne Johnson posted a video on Instagram. It seemed that he finished his workout and sat there to address the doubts of the fans in a Q&A session. He explained how he handled the fan’s criticism early in his career and differentiated the noise from the criticism.

He said, “The first 6 months of my rookie career in @WWE. Every arena across the country went from chanting “ROCKY” to “ROCKY SUCKS”. Fun times. Everyone told me “Rock just ignore the negativity and keep smiling”. Well the more I smiled, the louder the Rocky Sucks chants got.”

He then explained that he was about to quit but was motivated by his mentors. He said, “I was in a real bad place mental health wise and ready to throw in the towel and quit WWE. One of my wrestling mentors, Pat Patterson said to me, “They’re not chanting Rocky Sucks every night because they don’t like you. They’re chanting Rocky Sucks because you’re not being yourself…
