In the recent episode of To Be The Man podcast, co-host Conrad Thompson brought up the topic of Flair’s Induction speech. Naitch was straightforward over the claims that were made about his speech at the Hall of Fame.

The Nature Boy said, “I don’t know what they didn’t like about it. You have to remember that 99% of the people that attended that building don’t even know who Muta is. The wrestling people do, but I’m saying the audience…I didn’t hear it from anybody in the WWE, but that’s not unusual. I did hear they didn’t like me bringing up Sting, but Sting’s in our Hall of Fame.”

Flair also took a sly jibe at the fans who compare stars with Ricky Steamboat and Shawn Michaels. Furthermore, he added how everyone can complain about his speech in which he shared Muta’s skills and the fact the Japanese legend was the first wrestler to do moonsaults on TV.

Nevertheless, Muta entered with a great pop after Flair’s speech. He gave a small and simple speech to thank his family, fans, and WWE who gave him this honor, even though he never wrestled in a WWE ring.

Flair made sure with WWE while inducting Great Muta

It is not a secret that Muta had several matches with The Nature Boy, but he faced Sting more times than Flair. Naitch also shed a light on asking WWE that did Muta wanted him to induct or if he asked for Sting.

The 74-year-old said, “I merely asked the question, ‘Are you sure that Muta wants me over Sting.’ That’s all I said. If you can’t speak the truth without being criticized. I thought that was a very fair question on my part because he actually wrestled more than I did with Muta.’”

Muta and The Icon have a great history in the business. Even before retiring Muta had his last USA stint on Sting’s side. Therefore, Flair’s concerns over who will induct the Japanese legend can be understood.
