Night of Champions is just a day away, and fans are ready to witness a brand new World Champion. At Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, AJ Styles will go toe-to-toe with Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins for the brand new big gold belt. Both Styles and Rollins are two of the biggest names on the roster and have a rich indie wrestling history behind them. Before making it big in WWE, Styles built his name in TNA and the independent wrestling scene. Recently, AJ Styles revealed a detail about his WWE debut that might shock the fans.

Speaking to My Love Letter to Wrestling, Styles spoke about his WWE debut at Royal Rumble 2016. He claimed that during his debut at Rumble, WWE chairman Vince McMahon was unaware of his status and legacy in the industry.

Speaking to Mark Andrews on BBC’s ‘ My love letter to Wrestling,’ Styles opened up on several other incidents, including the opinion of Vince McMahon during Styles’ debut. Styles claimed that McMahon had no future plans for him when he made his made debut at Rumble.

Styles further stated how McMahon also thought that pop he received when his music hit was a major fluke and came out of nowhere.

The 45-year-old revealed, ” Vince had absolutely no idea who I was, there’s no way because he had no plans for me after the Royal Rumble. I wasn’t even supposed to be at Raw the next day, yeah so he thought it was a fluke I got that pop.”

However, Vince McMahon was proven wrong, as the crowd went crazy for Styles when he entered. The Phenomenal One put forward a stellar performance at Rumble against Roman Reigns and other superstars.

Soon after that, he found himself tagging alongside Chris Jericho as ‘Y2AJ’. However, the tag team would soon dissolve, and Jericho started a feud against Styles resulting in a match at WrestleMania 32. Vince McMahon has often been doubtful of wrestlers, and their talent from outside his own promotion. His intuition about AJ Styles was proven wrong, and Styles went on to have a successful WWE career and is a former two-time WWE Champion.
