This episode of SmackDown featured Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson without The Bloodline. While The Tribal Chief deals with the backlash of not appearing, Ja Morant is somewhere wondering why his social media is blowing up. Johnson mentioned the Grizzlies star in a segment that caught everyone off guard. However, taking the hit like a champ, Morant replied in his own unique way. Here is everything you need to know.

The reason why Ja Morant used a 50-Cent meme to respond to Dwayne Johnson

As Johnson gave the Memphis crowd an excellent demonstration of his singing talent, he said, “You’re simply an embarrassment, son. Just like Ja Morant when he’s waving a gun.” Johnson was singing about Cody Rhodes being an embarrassment to his family. The later part was about Morant, who, in 2023, faced consecutive suspensions for flashing a firearm on social media. While the crowd expressed their amusement and shock by the reference, The Rock laughed it off. While closing his performance, he said, “I love you Ja.” One can take this as a simple jab between people who either knew each other or knew this was going to happen, Morant did respond. Taking to social media, Morant posted a GIF of rapper 50 Cent.

While the GIF has no audio, the actual video is quite explicit. The meme in question is the 50 Cent “What I do” meme made years ago. During that time, boxer Floyd Mayweather had some beef with rapper Nelly. While calling out Nelly, Mayweather also mentioned 50’s name. This caught the rapper off guard and took to social media to ask why his name popped out. This is the same feeling Morant may have experiencced. While we’re unsure if Johnson warned Morant about this segment beforehand, he has taken it like a champ. The NBA star had earned a suspension for 25 games due to his acts on social media.
