We are just days away from the new WWE video game. There is a different kind of excitement for the game as the company has decided to go all in with this installment. Fans will get three different editions this year. One will be the Standard Edition and if fans pre-order it, they will get the Nightmare Family Pack. The Deluxe Edition is the second edition and the third edition is the Forty Years of WrestleMania edition, commemorating the four decades of the flagship Premium Live Event.

While fans do know about all these packs and add-on bonuses, we have a list of new features that have been added for the WWE 2k24.

One thing that will make this installment stand out from the previous ones is the new match types. These match types include many famous and fan-favorite matches from the history of the promotion. The new four match types that have been added this year are; Special Guest Referee, Ambulance Match, Casket Match, and Gauntlet Match.

Apart from these match types, there is something more for the fans to rejoice in. The famous Backstage Brawl now features a support of up to four players so that you can have a fun boys’ night in. Also, the environment is more interactive than ever.

Working elevators, breakable control room glass, and working soda vending machines from where you can get soda cans to throw at other characters, things have changed with this installment. Apart from that, the Royal Rumble now supports up to eight players online. While we do know about the new match types included, let’s have a look at the new move sets included in the game.

New move sets

This installment includes a ton of upgrades in the overall gameplay. However, the most noteworthy one is the Trading Blows minigame. Once you are deep into a brawl, a Quick Time Event-esque minigame will unlock. You can choose to punch, knife edge chop, overhand chop, or slap your opponent using the left stick of your controller. Apart from that, the animations have been upgraded. Once you are deep into a match, the finishers will look gradually tiresome. Also, the blood physics now allows it to drop more realistically and it stays on the mat.

Apart from the attention to little details, new move-sets have also been added. Now players can allot up to 5 signature moves and finishers as compared to 2 in the previous installments. Also, there are 3 Running Corner Attacks when the opponent is leaning in the corner: Light, Heavy, and Grab attacks.

For those who like to use weapons in the WWE video game, there is a piece of good news for them. New weapons have been added to the game this year. The new weapons include trash cans, guitars, and microphones. Also, a player can throw objects to cause damage. But, the game also has the feature to catch the said object and throw it back, making it a cool counter-move.

Things improved

While the MyGM mode has new features such as trading superstars between the brands, the MyFACTION mode is on another level now. Considering how much wrestling stables such as Bloodline and Judgment Day have been influential to the storytelling this year, the video game now has more emphasis on factions as well. The Faction Wars have been revamped to version 2.0. This version includes features such as more real-world factions in the game, along with more 4v4 online matches. Talking about the creation suite fans could customize things such as referees, signs, arenas, and even a star’s entrances. Now we are getting to the last part, new things added to the MyRISE mode.

MyRISE features a wider roster

MyRISE is a mode that has kept the fans hooked since it was first introduced. This year, we will get to see something different. In this installment, there will be two storylines-Undisputed (men’s) and Unleashed (women’s). Fans could custom create their stars who will either want to become an Undisputed Champion or an Unleashed Champion. Apart from that, the voice ensemble this year is very interesting. Stars such as Cody Rhodes, Mick Foley, and Roman Reigns will be doing the voiceover.

The Universe Mode has some cool new features too. This will be based on a lot of what fans get to see in real life, adding to the drama. The first new feature is expanded rivalry actions, including run-ins, Money in the Bank cash-ins, scenarios, and brawls. Apart from that, there will be new cutscenes and double title matches. However, the one more interesting feature is the Looser Leaves the Town stipulation. Which feature are you most excited to experience?
